Kindling
--- Currently WIP Prototype. We will keep posting updates throughout the Jam---
You didn't ask to be born. You didn't ask to be this hungry. But here you are — small, furious, and standing on an island that has absolutely no idea what's about to happen to it.
Kindling is a 64×64 pixel-art rampage game where you play as a dragon at the bottom of the food chain — for now. Eat what wanders too close, burn everything else, and grow large enough to remind the world why it used to be afraid of the dark.
EAT. BURN. GROW.
Cross a hand-crafted island from highland huts to castle gates, leaving a trail of ash and destruction in your wake; oh and don't forget to eat along the way.
Growth isn't just cosmetic — every stage unlocks new devastation. What starts as a bad day for a flock of sheep ends as a catastrophic structural failure for an entire castle.
Controls
- WASD — move
- Mouse — aim your fire cone (unlocked at Stage 2)
- Left mouse hold — breathe fire (unlocked at Stage 2)
- Space hold / release — launch a fireball (unlocked at Stage 3)
- Walk into things — eat them. You're a dragon.
Objectives
- Devour wildlife and villagers to heal and earn XP
- Burn structures to grow faster and escalate the threat
- Break through each zone's barrier to advance
- Defeat the knight guarding the castle at the end
- Fly off into the sunset, thoroughly unbothered with your morning activities.
The island will send increasingly armed and increasingly regretful soldiers to stop you. Rendered at a true 64×64 pixels. Every flame, every fleeing villager, every collapsing hut; is as beautiful as it is devastating.
